Journeywoman Start Grande Prairie
Journeywoman Start (JWS) is Women Building Futures' flagship, pre-apprenticeship training program. We've had great success in training women for apprenticeships and future employment in Edmonton and we are now thrilled to be offering this program in Grande Prairie! Since 2001, this program has maintained a 90% employment rate.
Journeywoman Start Grande Prairie prepares women for a successful career path in the skilled trades and provides the jump start to an entry-level role in the construction and maintenance industry.
This 12-week program features classroom training in academics and safety certifications along with hands-on training in drawing and blueprint reading, carpentry, welding, pipe-fitting, electrical, and plumbing. Safety certifications and basic first aid training are also covered. Students will complete the program by writing the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training exam.
Please note: this is a full time program, with classes running Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm in Grande Prairie.
Although GDL Licenses will be accepted, applicants are strongly encouraged to have Class 5 Driver’s License.
Applications are now open for this program with classes beginning in Spring/Summer 2020. If you are interested in applying to JWS Grande Prairie, sign up for your MYWBF account to start your application today.
