Heavy Equipment Technician
Heavy Equipment Technician is a hands-on pre-apprenticeship training program that prepares students with introductory skills to begin their careers maintaining, repairing and overhauling heavy vehicles and industrial heavy equipment.
Students will learn general safety awareness and receive industry recognized certification for future employment, acquire WBF’s Best Practices for Working in Construction, and receive hands-on technical skills training in workshops.
Program Length: 4 weeks
Location: Edmonton & Fort McMurray
Tuition for Edmonton: Tuition for this program is funded by our program sponsors (Finning, Cummins, SMS Equipment and Westcan Bulk).
Tuition for Fort McMurray: Tuition for this program is funded by our program sponsors (CEDA, Cummins, Finning, Ledcor, SMS Equipment and Suncor).
Class Capacity: 12
Admission Requirements: Apprenticeship Entrance Exam or Math 20-3, Science 10 & English 20-2, Class 5 License (non-GDL), successful completion of drug & alcohol and fitness testing.
- OSSA Basic Safety Orientation
- Standard First Aid CPR A & AED
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)
- Overhead Crane and Hoist
To support employment opportunities upon completion of this program, students will also have support from our Alumni Advisor team in job search and navigating the apprenticeship journey.
